The most common causes are a failed circulator pump, a stuck zone valve, a faulty thermostat, or a lockout caused by a pressure or temperature fault. We diagnose the root cause — not just reset the boiler and leave.
Kettling is caused by limescale buildup on the heat exchanger, restricting water flow and causing localized boiling. A power flush and descale usually resolves it. Left untreated, it can damage the heat exchanger — an expensive repair.
Once a year, ideally before heating season (September–October). A proper service includes combustion analysis, heat exchanger inspection, pressure relief valve test, pump check, and controls verification.
If the boiler is under 15 years old and the repair is under $1,000, repair usually wins. Over 20 years old, or repair cost exceeds $2,000, replacement is almost always the better value — especially given the efficiency gains of modern condensing boilers.
